9/5/16 Payton Red Elk in the kitchen - Dell Hambleton - Post quote: "PAYTON RED ELK is one of the many committed volunteers working in camp kitchens to feed thousands of people who have come to Sacred Stone Spirit Camp and Oceti Sakowin (Big Camp) to support efforts to stop the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline through sacred treaty land. There are six host camp kitchens and one main camp kitchen situated across the Standing Rock Water Protectors camping area. Donations from across the country from over 188 First Nations tribes, churches, communities and individual allies have sustained the camp and its inhabitants." https://www.facebook.com/SacredStoneCamp/photos/a.1696414397314258.1073741828.1570124769943222/1766762156946148/?type=3
9/6/16 Map of where DAPL comstruction continues - post quote: "The TRO granted today by Judge James E. Boasberg does NOT protect all the sacred sites identified by archaeologist Tim Mentz because they lie on what is referred to as "private land". This is OCCUPIED LAND, this is INDIGENOUS LAND, and we will continue to stand our ground! The 20 miles east of Lake Oahe is a pittance of a stoppage, as pipe has been laid and is ALREADY IN THE GROUND on the east side, right up to the Army Corps land. This is NOT a victory, this is an insult." https://www.facebook.com/SacredStoneCamp/photos/a.1696414397314258.1073741828.1570124769943222/1767312003557830/?type=3
9/7/16 Miranda DuBray and her horse Shonta - photo by Tomas Kermelo ; post quote: " Miranda DuBray feeds an apple to Shonta, one of the horses her grandfather brought to the main camp in Standing Rock. She yells out down the hill, "Grandpa, will I really get to ride the horse tomorrow?" As if happy to hear her excitement, Shonta playfully nuzzles her ear. This is only one of the thousands of beautiful interactions and moments that fill the smokey hills of the main resistance camp in Cannon Ball, ND." https://www.facebook.com/SacredStoneCamp/photos/a.1696414397314258.1073741828.1570124769943222/1767868650168832/?type=3
9/9/16 Sunrise in Standing Rock - Alana Quintasket ; post quote: "In our cultural teachings we are taught that the sunrise represents the Creators promise of a new day and a chance for a new beginning. Everyday we wake up grateful for that new beginning. This is what we pray for every night - that sunrise. We wake up every morning with that sun and give thanks to it for blessing us with a new chance at life. Much love, #NoDAPL for the love of the culture." https://www.facebook.com/SacredStoneCamp/photos/a.1696414397314258.1073741828.1570124769943222/1768876160068081/?type=3

Leo Cerda (pictured) is Kichwa from the Ecuadorian Amazon and works for Amazon Watch. He, along with 3 representatives from the community of Sarayaku, traveled all the way to Oceti Sakowin territory to stand in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Nation. :) Here he holds a Tanka Bar. 9/18/16 "This is something unbelievable. This display of unity and the power of coming together is unbelievable. No words can properly describe the feeling. For example just this morning our traditional enemies the Crow came to the camp here to stand in solidarity with us. And we welcomed them with Open Hearts. That was a power that brought tears to many people's eyes. The Oceti Sakowin stand strong and committed to stopping this pipeline." - Dave Archambault Jr., Chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation. #NoDAPL#IndigenousRising#WaterIsLife#PeopleOfSacredStone Photo by: Dallas Goldtooth www.facebook.com/SacredStoneCamp/photos/a.1696414397314258.1073741828.1570124769943222/1773374636284900/?type=3&theater
10/12/16 As Salaam Alaikum, Here are some photos from my visit to the land of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, currently engaging in a struggle to protect their land and water from the threat of an ecologically hazardous oil pipeline. The issue here is not oil, per se, it is the consistent violation of treaty obligations by the encroaching government and corporate interests; the lack of consultation with the First Nation occupants of the land and the disregard for the desire of the people to keep their water, which they believe, as articulated in the Qur'an, is the source of life (و جعلنا من الماء كل شيء حي). In the black and white photo, I am presenting the Chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation, Dave Archambault II, a gift of Zamzam Water as a symbol of Muslim solidarity with his people's efforts to protect their water. Present are some of our Native Muslim sisters. Included is a picture of the sun rising over the Missouri River, the great water source that is being threatened by the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). Each picture is described individually below. www.facebook.com/imamzaidshakir/posts/10153966550023359

12/8/16 The Red Nation shall rise again and it shall be a blessing for a sick world; a world filled with broken promises, selfishness and separations; a world longing for light again. I see a time of Seven Generations when all the colors of mankind will gather under the Sacred Tree of Life and the whole Earth will become one circle again. In that day, there will be those among the Lakota who will carry knowledge and understanding of unity among all living things and the young white ones will come to those of my people and ask for this wisdom. I salute the light within your eyes where the whole Universe dwells. For when you are at that center within you and I am that place within me, we shall be one.- Crazy Horse, Oglala Lakota Sioux (circa 1840-1877) - Heart of SR, photo by Toni Cervantes https://www.facebook.com/heartofstandingrock/photos/a.1898249183736435.1073741828.1897666263794727/1900890310138989/?type=3 12/8/16 Thruteen photos. A helicopter takes off from that encampment on the distant hill and circles around camp every day. Vehicles drive in and out all day from that cluster of dark things over on the distant hill, lit brightly at night. If this was really over there would not be large construction equipment out there plugging along, there wouldn't be encampments firmly established in two locations that we can see. The drill pad would not have equipment on it still... one would think. - OSC https://www.facebook.com/OcetiSakowinCamp/photos/a.1005331956278703.1073741828.1002053226606576/1056970287781536/
1/3/17 - The cycle of life for the woman is the baby, girl, woman, and grandmother. These are the four directions of life. She has been given by natural laws, the ability to reproduce life. The most sacred of all things is life. Therefore, all men should treat her with dignity and respect. Never was it our way to harm her mentally or physically. Indian men were never abusers. We always treated our women with respect and understanding. So from now on:I will treat women in a sacred manner. The Creator gave women the responsibility for bringing new life into the world. Life is sacred, so I will look upon the women in a sacred manner. In our traditional ways, the woman is the foundation of the family. I will work with her to create a home atmosphere of respect, security and harmony. I will refrain from any form of emotional or physical abuse. If I have these feelings, I will talk to the Creator for guidance. I will treat all women as if they were my own female relatives. This is my vow. - Native American Elders - Photo by Joel Preston- Heart of Standing Rock https://www.facebook.com/heartofstandingrock/photos/a.1898249183736435.1073741828.1897666263794727/1914172035477483/?type=3

2/17/17 Tipi and dome skeleton and water reflection - WOW! " I've always thought camp and most things about camp life as distractions, I understand the importance of being able to camp on treaty territory . . . But this fight was about THE PIPELINE that's going through treaty territory. All headlines revolve around camp, distracting everybody from the pipeline being built right NOW. #NoDAPL - Yaz_Like_Jaws - Curtis Yaz https://www.instagram.com/p/BQoj8CMD7Gf/

Winter has just broken and this is the spring melt. It is creating a >>major<< logistical issue for the cleanup here. Instead of waiting for an opportune time an unrealistic time window had been imposed in an attempt to project a highly negative light on the movement. Given even any rational window we would screen trash down to the micro level.Terminating work in a day and a half will guarantee a lot of landfill and further grievous injury to a people that have endured so much recent and historical trauma. Native peoples and Water Protectors deserve dignity. There is no intention of just leaving the remains to pollute the river. We want to finish this in a good way and in a peaceful and prayerful manner as always. Common sense and compassion are the need.
