11/1/16 THE ERRONEOUS ARTICLE of the $2.5m anonymous donation for legal defense is not factual. The web page is a hack and points to a FB page of a couple who are animal rescuers. This article (in my opinion) was released by DAPL to undermine fund raising efforts to assist Water Protector detainees. I would suggest NOT giving it credence or exposure and deleting the post if you have posted or shared it. Thank you.Update: "White Wolf Pack" is, indeed, a White Supremacist reference. 12/2/16 Countering Lies: - Linda Black Elk https://www.facebook.com/lindablackelk/posts/1306222876107065 This is a list of common lies (UNTRUTHS) being spread by North Dakota and Energy Transfer Partners. I'll provide links for evidence and more info. (I'll continue to edit this.) Common UNTRUTH #1: "There are no sacred sites in the path of the Dakota Access Pipeline." That is completely untrue ACCORDING TO DAKOTA ACCESS, who found a beautiful site ON OCTOBER 17 and was forced to reroute the pipeline, but did not notify the ND Public Utilities Commission. The NDPUC therefore fined DA a mere $15,000. So, when someone says there are no significant cultural sites in the path of the pipeline, please send them this link: http://www.kfyrtv.com/…/ND-PSC-files-formal-complaint-again… Common UNTRUTH #2: "The Treaty of Fort Laramie stops at the Cannonball River, so the pipeline does not cross treaty land." I'm fairly sure that this lie is founded in geographical ignorance. Pro-DAPL folks use the following map to say "Look! The treaty lands stop at the Cannonball River!" However, if you look closely, it clearly shows that the treaty lands extend north to the Heart River. I think they're getting the Cannonball and Heart Rivers mixed up. (lol) http://www.ndstudies.org/…/Ind…/standingrock/1851treaty.html Common UNTRUTH #3: "The pipeline is buried 92 feet underground, so if it leaks, it will not endanger the Missouri River...because burying it deeper makes it safer." Some of you are giggling right now, but this really is a common untruth. Some people - most of whom failed high school science - believe that burying the pipeline deep in the ground means that any leaks will just, sort of...stay underground. No. Just...no. As pipeline engineer Steve Martin recently noted, "The North Dakota Geological Survey has noted for the DAPL 'High concentrations of landslides have been mapped in many regions along the proposed route centerline.'" According to Dakota Access' own environmental assessment, these landslides could endanger the Missouri River at Lake Oahe. Further, burying a chunk of metal 90 feet deep puts significant stress on the structural integrity of the pipeline. In other words, it is damaged before it is even buried. https://m.facebook.com/story.php… Common UNTRUTH #4: "The Standing Rock Nation didn't attend any meetings and never voiced opposition to the pipeline prior to the establishment of the Sacred Stone Camp." Totally untrue. In 2014, the tribe voiced their opposition to any pipeline going through the area, and later reasserted their opposition to DA.
